Subject: Update on USMAI Weekly Index Weighting Adjustment
Dear SPR Premium Subscribers,
We hope this message finds you well.
Starting this week, we will be implementing a recalibration of the index weightings used in our USMAI (U.S. Market Average Index) weekly data. The updated weighting structure will apply to the Dow Jones Industrial Average, Nasdaq Composite, S&P 500, and Russell 2000.
The primary reason for this adjustment is the growing distortion observed in overall market indicators caused by a small number of large-cap, AI-related technology stocks. As these stocks have gained disproportionate influence over major indices, we have identified an increasing divergence between index-level movements and the actual price behavior of the broader universe of investable stocks. This has raised the likelihood of misinterpreting underlying market trends.
To address this issue and provide a more balanced and representative view of overall market conditions, we have recalibrated the weightings of each index effective this week.
As a result, you may notice some differences between previously delivered weekly charts, outlooks, and data compared with the newly updated forecasts and reports. We appreciate your understanding regarding these changes.
We believe that the newly adjusted USMAI framework will offer clearer insights into broader market dynamics and enhance its usefulness as a strategic market reference.
Should you have any questions or require further clarification, please feel free to contact us at any time.
Thank you for your continued trust and support.
